The story
WG Willow is run by Gary Sandford, a former minor counties cricketer with more than 35 years of bat-making experience. The business takes its name and spirit from W. G. Grace, and its bats are shaped from hand-picked English willow using traditional methods, with Gary designing everything from the blade shape to the stickers.
Every bat can be built to the buyer's preferred weight, balance, shape and size, with a choice of a classic or concave profile. The firm also sells its own pads, gloves, wicketkeeping kit and bags, offers a full repair service, and recently opened a shop at Roman Way in Godmanchester, near Huntingdon.
