The story
Kippax has been making cricket bats in Yorkshire since Peter Kippax started the business in 1976, and marks its 50th year in 2026. The company controls the whole chain itself: it plants new willow sets each winter in its own woodlands, fells mature trees, splits and kiln dries the clefts at its yard, and then shapes and finishes the bats by hand.
Its range runs from the 4 Star models up to the flagship Sancta Grail, with the WAVEX model using a Kippax handle design intended to reduce vibration. The company also supplies teamwear and club shops, and repairs bats from its base on Methley Lane near Leeds, where visitors can call in on weekdays.
