The story
OX29 Bat Doctor is the work of Samuel Cross, who started out repairing his own bats after a local cricket retailer and mentor wound down his business. Friends began bringing him theirs, and the hobby grew into a trade run from a garage in Eynsham in Oxfordshire.
In August 2024 the business moved into a workshop unit on a farm in Standlake, where Sam presses, shapes and finishes each bat himself. He stresses that all his willow comes from within Oxfordshire. Alongside one-off stock bats and a custom bat builder, repairs remain a large part of the work.
