The story
Choice Willow is the bat brand of the Choice Cricket Centre, based on the Flamsteadbury estate at Redbourn near St Albans. Its adult bats are made from Grade 1 English willow bought from J S Wright & Sons, with each cleft picked out and shaped by the centre's own master batmaker using traditional methods.
Alongside its standard models, the workshop will build a bat to a player's own weight, balance, handle and sweet spot preferences, or copy an old favourite from the bat itself or from photos and measurements. The centre also runs indoor nets, coaching and leagues, and repairs bats of any make.
