The story

Keeley Cricket is a family business based at Keeleys Yard in Ashburnham, East Sussex. The site says the family has lived on the land for more than two hundred years and ran a timber mill there for four generations before turning to cricket bats, with willow now split, graded and shaped on the same site.

Tim Keeley has made bats since 1975, having started as an apprentice at Gray-Nicolls at sixteen and trained under the late John Newbery. Nick Keeley handles willow selection, grading and splicing. Other family members and long-serving staff cover sanding, repairs, operations and customer service, and Tim's son Heston is an apprentice bat maker.
