The story

Julian Millichamp and Jonathan Hall set up the business in 1987 with the aim of doing bat design and marketing differently. Its workshop, shop and offices sit within the grounds of Somerset County Cricket Club in Taunton, and it also runs appointment-only satellite stores in Burnley, west London and Oxfordshire.

Bats come in a small set of named shapes, each offered in several grades of English willow that the team sorts in-house. Every bat is knocked in by hand before it leaves the workshop. The firm sponsors a long list of county and international players, many with Somerset links.
