The story
Hell4Leather was set up by club cricketers Matt Barton and Adam Larking, with the idea of building a modern cricket brand on traditional bat-making methods. The site gives 2005 as the founding year on its About page, while its footer refers to the brand growing since 2009.
Bats are made in a small workshop near Ashford in Kent, with Matt Barton handling each one himself. Rather than shipping the nearest match from stock, senior bats are built to the buyer's chosen grade, weight and profile. The top-end Rocket Factory line uses hand-picked, lighter willow, and the firm has planted its own willow trees at the workshop.
